The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy was founded by entrepreneur and star of Dragon’s Den, Peter Jones CBE, with a view to encouraging more entrepreneurial activity within the UK, based on a philosophy of ‘learning by doing’.
The Academy aims to equip future generations of entrepreneurs with the skills and mindset to run their own businesses thereby supporting the future of the British economy.
Despite the UK economy’s reliance on these people, the development of enterprise and entrepreneurship is grossly neglected. As a consequence, hundreds of bright, ambitious young people never get the chance to gain the skills and confidence to realise their business dreams.
Jessica spoke about how she is now running her own business – PLUSHPOPS which produces cupcakes on lollipop sticks. It is niche business in the UK and Jessica has already secured deals with wedding planners and potential sellers.
The academy has allowed the students to network with business officials, meet various entrepreneurs, carry out the necessary paperwork covering business legislation and pitch their ideas to Dragon Duncan Bannantyne to gain investment for their business idea. Jessica explained how she has put many hours into her business and often has to combine this with academic work set by the Academy.
Jessica has applied to university to study Business Management and is going to continue running her business whilst studying for her degree.
